A Star-Studded Homecoming: Union Oyster House Celebrates Lauren Xu’s Recent Pageant Success
Local Leader and Pageant Royalty Honored at Historic Boston Landmark
By: John Russo
It was a truly memorable evening at Boston's iconic UNION OYSTER HOUSE last night, as the historic venue hosted a joyous homecoming celebration for the remarkable Lauren Xu. The second-floor private space, within the historic restaurant now celebrating its incredible 200th year, served as the perfect backdrop for this elegant, political star-studded event. The room was packed with a lively crowd of enthusiastic well-wishers, friends, and family, all gathering to honor a local standout.
Lauren Xu, 23, is a Harvard Graduate and a former U.S. Presidential Scholar. The celebration marked her recent string of impressive achievements, which began on October 5, 2025, when she was crowned Miss Chinese Boston. This success propelled her to compete at the prestigious Miss Chinatown USA 2026 pageant in San Francisco, where she brought great honor to the region by winning the titles of Miss Chinese Chamber of Commerce and First Princess.
The event brought together everyone who wanted to congratulate Lauren on her extraordinary accomplishments and wish her well in her future endeavors. It was an event of great community pride, especially for the local Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Guests were treated to the Union Oyster House's legendary hospitality. A delicious array of appetizers were prepared and served, including Stuffed Clam Shells, Croquets, and Meatballs. The highlight, of course, was their prize-winning New England Clam Chowder, served with Hot Corn Bread and Oyster Crackers. A choice of freshly prepared entrees followed for the sit-down dinner, with selections like Fresh White Fish, Glazed Baby Carrots, and whipped Mashed Potatoes.
As the dinner service concluded, the festivities continued with dessert: a massive sheet cake for everyone to share. The formal portion of the evening included several supportive speeches from local and regional leaders. Ed Flynn, Boston City Councilman for the 2nd District, was present and extremely supportive. Quincy's own First Time Elected School Committee Member, TOM LEUNG, also took to the mic. The audience was further surprised by the presence of actress Tina Caruso, known for her role on the Netflix series "Love on the Spectrum." Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan was also among the many notable speakers and guests.

A particularly proud moment for the Xu family occurred when Lauren was formally presented with a Congratulatory Citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives. The citation was signed by the Speaker of the House, Ronald J. Mariano, recognizing her achievements and her role as a distinguished representative of the Commonwealth.
The level of support and excitement from the city’s political landscape was truly remarkable, making an already memorable event at this location even more impactful. The Union Oyster House staff was praised for being extremely attentive and helpful, making everyone feel truly welcomed in this historic setting. This successful event left a lasting impression, and many attendees pledged to visit very soon to celebrate the restaurant’s 200th year and explore the "many visual artifacts" within its walls.
The consensus was clear: "If you’re from Massachusetts or not, do not pass this restaurant up!" Both the food and the iconic oyster bar make it a "must-visit" stop. The overwhelming sentiment of the evening was a powerful sense of community and regional pride, summed up perfectly: "We are all very proud! Many best wishes for LAUREN XU IN THE FUTURE!"
