Quincy Cop Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Pedestrian Crash
Wemouth police conducted the investigation after a Quincy officer struck a man with his cruiser while responding to a medical emergency.
QUINCY, MA — A Quincy police officer that struck a pedestrian with his cruiser last month was cleared of any wrongdoing, according to police. The crash happened around 7:21 a.m. Aug. 7 and left John Angelucci, 79, the owner of John's Hairstyling in Quincy Center in critical condition.
Following the crash, Quincy police said Officer Daniel Church was responding to a medical emergency involving CPR when he struck Angelucci. Weymouth police investigated the crash and said, "There is no evidence to indicate any improper or negligent operation on behalf of Officer Church." Church was placed on paid leave while the investigation was underway but has since returned to work.
Angelucci was taken to Boston Medical Center after the crash and is still recovering from his injuries.
