Woman Fatally Stabs Husband Over Illegal Quincy Gambling Ring: PD

A woman fatally stabbed her husband in front of their daughter, following an argument over an illegal Quincy gambling ring, police said.

QUINCY, MA — A Boston woman was ordered held without bail after police said she fatally stabbed her husband during an argument about an illegal gambling ring the couple were operating out of a Wollastan basement, the Patriot Ledger reported. Police said the stabbing happened on the Fourth of July in front of the couple's daughter.

Huixian Lu, 46, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder after police said she stabbed her husband, Biqiang He, 55. He was taken to Boston Medical Center for surgery, but succumbed to his injuries Sunday. Prosecutors said they will examine the existing assault charge following He's death and the information revealed by the autopsy before more charges are filed at a Lu's dangerousness hearing Friday.

Shortly before 7 p.m., officers were called to the 10th block of South Central Avenue after Biqiang He, 55, was stabbed, according to police. Police told the Patriot Ledger they were familiar with the house because the city shut down an illegal gambling operation in the basement two days before. Witnesses told police the couple was arguing about letting the city inspector into the basement to see the gambling machines. The argument turned into violent grappling before the stabbing with the couple's daughter begging them to stop, according to police.
