READING, MA — The town has announced that the intersection of High Street, Haven Street, and Chute Street will be reopened by Oct. 30.

Drivers in the area should use caution as the intersection has changed.

Temporary concrete blocks will be in place to safeguard the plaza while the community adjusts to the new design, and permanent decorative bollards will be installed in a later phase of the project, according to the town.

The change is part of the Downtown Streetscape project.

The opening of the raised intersection "marks a major project milestone, and we invite you to celebrate by visiting the area and patronizing the local businesses," the town said.

Work on sidewalks, traffic signals, street lighting, landscaping and final paving will continue. It's anticipated the project will be finished in 2027.
