11/19/12 Press Release
Sanborn Place, Home Care & Day Services has been selected to partner with national initiatives to create strategies that improve quality of life for senior residents, while producing cost savings to the health and long-term care systems. Developed by LeadingAge and Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. (Enterprise), the Learning Collaborative will engage 12 teams of senior housing organizations and service providers to develop and refine housing and healthcare models over a two-year period. Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) is also participating in the effort, providing strategic policy support to the teams.
Sanborn is honored to be selected to participate in the Learning Collaborative. We have committed our efforts and resources for the past several years to the development of a strong housing and services model. Says Jacqueline Carson, CEO of Sanborn Place, Home Care & Day Services, “The opportunity to work with a number of other organizations across the county will allow for us to pool our resources, create programs that can be replicated, in turn allowing for us to improve on the quality of life for all seniors locally and across the country.

Peter Sanborn Place opened as independent housing for low-income seniors and special needs populations in 1983. The mission was to provide for housing and services. In late 1997 it was pertinent for the not-for-profit to expand on its mission. At that time Sanborn Home Care was developed as a sister organization to care for residents in the facility and the community at large. Most recently we expanded again on our continuing of care services, with the acquisition of an adult day heath center. Our facility is the home to 75 residents; we currently have over 150 individuals on our wait list, along with caring for another 200 in the community and/or at our adult day health center. “At the time when our senior population is growing more rapidly than ever before, and public resources for affordable housing and services are shrinking, it is vital that we take the necessary steps to support innovation, identify successes and encourage the adoption of these emerging successful models,” adds Terri Ludwig, President and CEO of Enterprise.
