Baking For Friends Saturday At The Library

Day with book-themed cake displays, demonstrations, scavenger hunt, all gets underway at 9 a.m.

Let's face it, you won't be able to work on the yard Saturday. Plan B? Head to the library for a full day of fun focused on book-themed cakes, a scavenger hunt, and demonstrations by experts.

The schedule:

Registration is in the library vestibule from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase, all to benefit the library.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a scavenger hunt throughout the library.

Community Room A: At 9 a.m. there will be two cake decorating demonstrations. Jean Sword will lead one geared to elementary and middle school age children. Susan Fitzgerald will do the same for adults. Following that at 11 a.m., there will be a story time with retired Reading principal Richard Davidson. Between 2 and 3 p.m. there will be a cake decorating demonstration by Stop & Shop.

Community Room B: At 10 a.m. there will be a Library Jumping Beans: toddler story time. At 11 a.m. author nutritionist Liz Ward will talk on "How Sweet It Is: Low and no-added Sugar Cookies." At 1 p.m. children's author/illustrator Scott Magoon will take over for an hour presentation.

Between 3 and 4 p.m. you can sample the cakes and the raffle drawing will take place. Admission is $15 for a family, which includes five raffle tickets.
