Reading Select Board Approves Hiring Town Manager

READING, MA — The Reading Select Board voted to hire Jayne Wellman as town manager at a recent meeting.

Wellman had previously served as acting town manager. The vote came after a 90-minute public interview with Wellman on March 23.

In February, the Select Board parted ways with Town Manager Matthew Kraunelis after the two sides were unable to come to terms on a contract.

Shortly after, the Select Board brought in Wellman, who had served as assistant town manager.
