Bible Study & Worship Group

There is a serious need for Christian fellowship opportunities for young adults outside of traditional worship. Let's take the initiative.

My name is Katie Curtis. I am twenty three, and my Catholic faith is very important to me. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the norm, based on the average age demographic of my parish, and many other parishes I've visited. It seems to me that there is a need that is not being met. In our Catholic churches, we have events and groups for people still in the Confirmation programs (approximately 14-17 years of age), as well as for families (people in their 30s and 40s with young children). However, there is a considerable gap between those groups where faith is arguably most at risk, and most important. There needs to be times outside of Mass for young Catholics to get together, enjoy each others' company, and worship in unique ways, through art, music, and prayer together.

I would like to start a group for people between the ages of 18-30 to do just this. It would not be connected to any particular parish, and would hopefully meet once every week, probably on Friday nights or Saturday afternoons. It would be informal, and we would not necessarily meet in the same place or even on the same day every week. The purpose would be to worship and to make friends, but we want the group to be organic in that what we do specifically must be determined by the people who join. Perhaps we will be primarily a prayer and worship group. Perhaps it will be a Bible study. Perhaps we will volunteer. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to come with ideas, musical instruments, art supplies, and whatever baggage you have on you.
