City Cycle to collect old bikes and make a donation to Gathering Change, Inc.
City Cycle will collect old bikes, fix them up, sell them and donate proceeds to Gathering Change, Inc.
Late winter/early spring, Judy Bousquin and her husband Paul were cleaning out their garage. They came across their children’s old bikes. They decided to call City Cycle on Main Street in Stoneham. They asked the owner, Eric Barras, if he could use the bikes to fix up and give away. Mr. Barras, suggested that City Cycle fix up the bikes, sell them and they would give the money to Gathering Change, Inc. Gathering Change is a local non-profit that raises funds and gives it to the food pantries in the town it is raised in. That means that for every bike City Cycle sells, the money would go to Gathering Change and they in turn would give it to the food pantries in Stoneham. City Cycle also has a collection jar where they collect spare change for this much needed charity.
So if you have a fixer-upper you no longer want, they will fix it, resell it and give the money to Gathering Change. Or if they can’t fix the bike, they will use the parts that are still good and pay Gathering Change what they are worth. So help us feed those hungry people in your town by looking in your garages and drop off any old bikes to benefit the Stoneham Food Pantries. Or if you have some spare change or just want to make a donation, feel free to do that at City Cycle as well. You can make a direct donation at our website: www.gatheringchangeinc.org or contact Marianne Snow 781-246-0365. The hungry neighbors in your town will be grateful that you did.
