Corey E. Collins, D.O. is re-elected Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the Massachusetts Medical Society
Reading resident to serve as top-officer of statewide physicians group

Waltham, Mass. – May 5 - Reading resident Corey E. Collins, D.O. has been re-elected Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the statewide professional association of physicians with more than 25,000 members. Re-elected at the organization’s annual meeting May 5 at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, he will serve another one-year term in that leadership post for the Society.
Dr. Collins is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, and in 2015 he formed Collins Medical Consulting, Inc.
Since joining the Massachusetts Medical Society in 1997, he has served the organization in many capacities. He has previously chaired the Committee on Membership and the Resident and Fellows Section and served as a member of the Board of Trustees, Committee on Legislation and multiple Task Forces. Since 2002, he has been a member of the House of Delegates.

In addition, Dr. Collins is the Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Medical Society and Alliance Charitable Foundation, a post he assumed in 2014. He has been a member of the Foundation Board since 2011.
In his capacity at MEEI, Dr. Collins provides care to pediatric patients for both simple and complex ophthalmologic and head and neck surgery. He currently chairs MEEI’s Medical Staff Code Committee and is a member of the MEEI Human Studies Committee.

Dr. Collins founded Collins Medical Consulting, Inc. to offer expert sedation services to pediatric dental patients in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. The company seeks to improve the access of care to families in New England and reduce the cost of dental sedation services with increased safety.
A published author of a number of scholarly articles on the care of pediatric surgical patients, Dr. Collins is also active in teaching clinical anesthesia and providing individualized educational sessions for residents from Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the University of New England in Maine. Since 2006, he has been an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, and in 2009 he became a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
He has also participated in volunteer humanitarian efforts in Peru and Ecuador, providing surgery for children in those nations.
A 1990 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in molecular and cellular biology, Dr. Collins earned his D.O. from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine in 2000 and was president of his graduating class. He is the recipient of multiple anesthesia teaching awards from the Harvard Medical School and affiliated anesthesia training programs. He is a veteran of military service, having served in the United States Navy from 1987-1992. He lives in Reading with his wife, Cristina, and their three daughters.
