The new Reading Woods Condominum Complex which has just recently been completed will bring revenue to the town of over 2.5 million dollars! Why can't we use these funds toward some of the town's needs? There are 424 units in that complex and as a low estimate if you factor about $6000 tax per unit it comes in at a revenue to the Town of Reading of $2,544,000 - over two and one half million dollars!!! Where does the town plan to use this free cash? Also we should look at the new construction of additional condo units at Johnson Woods as well. The taxes at that complex are just as high, if not higher. All this tax revenue should be factored into our budget. Condos are "gold" to the town because they require a lot less in services and have very few school age children living in them so no additional burden on the school system and at the same time provides lots of tax revenue. I say "NO" to the Override! It is not necessary! Go back to the budget and factor in all this excess tax revenue and then come up with an honest reasonable dollar amount. An amount that is not going to leave the town with a big "slush fund" for additional spending.
