Elmer Lincoln Passes Away
Longtime Reading resident served in the army in WW II and was prisoner of war.

Elmer B. “Bud” Lincoln, Jr., a lifelong resident of Reading, died Nov. 29 at the V.A. Boston Healthcare System in W. Roxbury. He was 93 years of age. Bud was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 22, 1924 the son of the late Elmer B. and Bertha (Lawrence) Lincoln.
Bud was a graduate of Reading High School class of 1941. He proudly served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army Air Corp in which he was crew member on a B-24 Liberator working as a radio operator/top gunner. His aircraft was shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war in Austria. Bud enjoyed staying at his summer home he built in 1962 at Comono Point in Essex. Bud was a 50 Year Member of Good Samaritan Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Reading. He enjoyed playing the piano, crossword puzzles and building model airplanes.
Bud was the beloved husband of the late Doris S. (Conrad) Lincoln. He was the devoted father of Kenneth R. Lincoln and grandfather of Jacob C. Lincoln both of Reading. He was the longtime companion of Susan Bissett of Tewksbury. He is also survived by his former daughter in-law Debra Polanco of East Wenatchee WA.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
