[Editor's note: Information provided by St. John's Preparatory School Drama Guild]

Currently running on Broadway, the St. John’s Preparatory Drama Guild will bring this show to the Kaneb Theater in Danvers.

“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” opened on Broadway in 1961 and went on to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. In a 1992 Broadway revival of the hit show, Matthew Broderick garnered a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Most recently, Daniel Radcliffe of the “Harry Potter” film series and “Equus” and John Larroquette of “Night Court” and “The Practice” star in a highly acclaimed Broadway revival.

A witty satire about getting ahead in big business, the show chronicles the unlikely career of J. Pierrepont Finch, who rises from lowly window washer to the top of the corporate ladder, all thanks to the help of a slim handbook called “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” The show charms audiences with a host of memorable tunes, including “I Believe in You,” “Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm,” “The Company Way,” “Been a Long Day,” “Rosemary” and “Brotherhood of Man.” Music and lyrics are by Frank Loesser; the book is by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, based on the 1952 book by Shepherd Mead.

Kaneb Theatre, Alumni Hall, on the Prep campus at 72 Spring Street in Danvers, Mass.
