Today is Wednesday, Feb. 9. Here are five things you need to know:
Hot beverages are your friend today, because It’s going to be cold and windy. Weather Underground predicts that the low temperature will hit negative three degrees in Reading this morning, and the wind could peak at 13 miles per hour. It’s probably a good day to minimize how much skin you expose to the elements. And stay away from drafty windows.
The library will help you find a job. Boston Globe columnist Patricia Hunt Sinacole will offer a at the library tonight. The seminar will include the use of social media in your job search as well as networking tips and job search statistics. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Attendees are welcome to come for refreshments and networking from 6:30-7:00. Registration is requested. Do you always forget to change your clock? On this day in 1942, Congress approved federal daylight savings time—then called “war time”—in an effort to save fuel. Fun fact: Benjamin Franklin originally proposed the idea of daylight savings time by way of making fun of the French for sleeping in so late.
