Leading Reproductive Rights Advocates Endorse Lewis

NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts says Lewis, "has been a steadfast champion for reproductive freedom."

BOSTON -- NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts has endorsed state Senator Jason Lewis for re-election in the 5th Middlesex District, praising his strong commitment to defending women’s reproductive rights and health, and proven track record fighting for gender equality. Senator Lewis has also been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts.

“Senator Jason Lewis has been a steadfast champion for reproductive freedom throughout his time in the legislature and we are proud to endorse him,” said Kristine Glynn, co-chair of the NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC. “Reproductive rights are under attack today more so than we have seen in decades. That is why we need experienced champions like Jason Lewis in the State House to ensure that all Massachusetts residents can access the full spectrum of reproductive health services – no matter what.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice Mass,” said Senator Jason Lewis. “No matter what President Trump, Congressional Republicans, or the U.S. Supreme Court does to threaten women’s reproductive rights and access to healthcare, we will fight to defend a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices here in Massachusetts.”

Senator Lewis has been a champion for many successful legislative initiatives that protect and expand women’s access to healthcare and advance gender equality, including:

● Paid Family and Medical Leave, which he helped to steer through the legislature and was recently signed into law by Governor Baker.
● The Massachusetts Equal Pay Act, which is the strongest law in the country aimed at closing the gender pay gap.
● The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act that ensures that pregnant women receive protections and reasonable accommodations in the workplace.
● The ACCESS law that ensures that Massachusetts residents continue to have access to affordable birth control, safeguarding them from persistent federal attacks.
● The PATCH Act, which improves patients’ privacy rights by allowing them to request that a summary of payment form for their health insurance be sent directly to them, not to the policyholder of their insurance.
● The NASTY Women (Negating Archaic Statutes Targeting Young Women) Act which repeals archaic laws restricting access to abortion and contraception, and is expected to soon be signed into law by Governor Baker.
● The Healthy Youth Act, which has passed the Senate and is now awaiting action in the House of Representatives.
