Listen Up, Anne Landry Wants To Hear From You

Candidate for State Rep continues her "listening tour" of the 30th Middlesex District.

A release from State Representative candidate and Reading resident Anne Landry:

I have spent the last six months on a listening tour of the 30th Middlesex District. In addition to attending meet and greets, inviting residents to join me for my Saturday morning coffee at various local coffee shops, and participating in community events, at every opportunity I have laced up my sneakers and headed out of my door to knock on the doors of our neighbors. I originally embarked on this door-knocking journey, because I had received the advice that knocking on doors is the way to win an election- and representing and serving my community at the state level is something I feel called to do. But I have continued this work of going door-to-door because it has become clear in the process that it is a way to become more connected to a community that I love- and that by listening to residents one-on-one and face-to-face, I am coming to a greater understanding of the issues that weigh heavily on the hearts and minds of my neighbors.

Having knocked on the doors of thousands of voters, I have learned a lot from you. You are concerned about the state of our public schools and what the future holds for our children. Too many families have struggled or are struggling to make ends meet. Some of you have found your financial or family stability disrupted by life events out of your control. Many of you on a fixed income are worried about your ability to age in place- and would like to see expanded opportunities for tax relief, better housing opportunities, and improved elder services. You are concerned about traffic and development in our communities. You would like to see our roads and our public transportation system improved You are worried about what the current national political climate means for our democracy.

My sneakers are growing worn. My feet some days are sore. But after knocking on the doors of thousands of voters, I feel I am in a better position to serve you as your full-time state representative. I aim to be a very accessible state representative for the people of Reading and Woburn. If I haven't yet reached your front door (or even if I have), I invite you to call me on my personal cell phone with your questions and concerns at 774-319-0381. I look forward to continuing these conversations with you through the Democratic Primary on September 4th and beyond.
