North Reading Takes First Victory in Tournament

The North Reading Hornets beat Wakefield American when they met yesterday for the first game of the Massachusetts District 13 Tournament Major League. 

They played through the third inning because of the mercy rule, when North Reading broke away after a series of runs scored, gaining 10 runs over Wakefield making the final score 16-5. 

"This is just what we were hoping for," Coach Eddie Madden said to his team after their win. "Win or lose, I don't want to see any poor sportsmanship." 

Julie O'Donnell was excited to watch her son play.

"The kids are all so good," O'Donnell said, "it was the first game, so it's exciting to see them win."
