Over Coffee At Nero's, Residents Impressed By Alvarado

Letter to the Editor from Anne and Mary Coneeney:

We are writing this in support of Vanessa Alvarado for the position of Selectman for the Town of Reading.

Over coffee at Nero’s on Saturday, we had the opportunity to listen and chat with her. As life time residents or “townies”, we were very impressed with her knowledge of Reading’s history and excited to hear her thoughts, challenges and ideas for its future.

We found her to be very sincere, open, knowledgeable and eager to offer her expertise. Having served on the Finance Board for four years, Vanessa has a valuable understanding of the financial workings of the town, especially at this time with a much-needed Override.

She is looking for fresh ideas to involve the “senior members” in the community, to support the schools with the Override, and to think “Out of the Box” while planning for the Reading’s future. She is open to working and involving all members of the community in an inclusive and collaborative manner. We found her to be a great listener, positive, warm and very approachable to all. The two-hour coffee could have gone on for the day as we listened to her passion for having Reading be the best it can be for all. Vanessa has found that residents come together in time of need and appreciates the friendly feeling when out and about.

Vanessa would be a terrific member on the board; her wealth of information and her broad knowledge of the “workings” of the Town were impressive.

Albeit, Reading is a small Town with ideas and challenges coming from many different residents and groups. The best outcome for all will come about by individuals talking, discussing, sharing ideas, planning and respecting each other’s views. It has always been that way, and hopefully it will continue that way – we feel that Vanessa would be the one that could make this happen.

Once you have the opportunity to meet Vanessa, you will be as inspired and eager to support her candidacy as we have been.
