Patch Picks: Thanksgiving High School Football
Stuffed with wisdom, history, and a side of holiday silliness.

Masconomet over Everett -- After going 5-5 in 2015, the mighty Crimson have been consumed with winning the Division 1 Super Bowl title. And a three-point loss to Xaverian to open the season has only fanned those flames. So do you really think coach John DiBiaso will risk playing a single starter against the Chieftains? If you're hoping to see Jordan McAfee forget it.
St. John's Prep over Xaverian -- Hawks coach Charlie Stevenson has been burned before by playing his starters on Thanksgiving. He's a smart man. He won't allow it to happen again.
Medford over Malden -- The final Greater Boston League football game ever should be a good one, despite the team records. Medford's Ben Antoine is the best player you've never heard of, despite leading Division 2 in scoring. Just wish the once mighty GBL had found a way to survive.

Holliston over Westwood -- It's been years since the Panthers have beaten Westwood, mainly because their starters have been spectators. But with no Super Bowl in the way, Holliston will go all out to beat their rivals and gain revenge for the 36-34 loss earlier this year.
Quincy over North Quincy -- Why have these two neighbors suddenly forgot how to play football? They're a combined 1-19 which means you may be better off staying home Thursday. Another year like this and you may hear talk of a co-op team.

Reading over Stoneham -- After beating the Spartans, Reading fans should make sure and head back to Stoneham Sunday for Star Wars night at Stone Zoo. Look for me. I'll be dressed up as a Stormtrooper.
Andover over North Andover -- It's last call for football fans to see EJ Perry in action. Unless of course you're a BC season-ticket holder.
Beverly over Salem -- A once promising start for the Witches has turned into five straight losses. The father-son team of Beverly's Kevin and Andrew Morency will put the loss to Duxbury behind them and finish with nine wins this fall.
Marblehead over Swampscott -- I heard Marblehead coach Jim Rudloff tell his team everyone was playing against Swampscott and the Magicians were going to kick their (sorry, this is a family website). But that was two weeks ago. Wonder if he still feels that way?
Woburn over Winchester -- The run first, rarely throw Tanners offense is finally getting untracked after a disappointing 0-3 start. But in Rocky Nelson's last game, Woburn gives their longtime coach his fourth straight win. Nice way to end a career.
Wayland over Weston -- The Warriors haven't been the same since the one-point loss to Bedford in the DCL Small title game. But if the Wayland players still care, this is an easy win.
Wellesley over Needham -- After taking the week off against Bridgewater-Raynham, the Wellesley offense is up and running again. Jack Tishman and Grant Chryssicas will lead Raiders to their 10th win in this 129th Thanksgiving meeting.
Last week: 6-0; season 57-43
