Police Log: Burglar Strikes McDonalds on Main Street

A look at notable events in the Reading Police log for Dec. 17-18.

Friday, Dec. 17

12:56 a.m. Billerica Police arrested David Lane, 37, of Billerica on behalf of Reading police who charged him with violating a no-contact restraining order held against him by a Reading resident.

2:22 a.m. An officer spotted new graffiti on the . The officer reported that someone tagged one of the school's doors with "BM."

5:07 a.m. A manager at on Main Street reported a past break-in at the restaurant. The incident is still under investigation.

9:01 a.m. A Sunnyside Avenue resident reported a suspicious van that had been outside his house all morning. Police spoke to the van's owner, who said he was working at another house on the street.

10:38 a.m. Police gave a citation to Turibio Burgo, 43, of Northfield, Conn., charging him with driving with a revoked license.

10:45 a.m. Police gave a citation to Robert Antonucci, 39, of Newburyport charging him with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. Police also gave him a citation for speeding.

12:29 p.m. Police responded to a car accident between a Lynn woman and a North Reading woman at the Stop & Shop at 25 Walkers Brook Drive. One car was towed from the scene.

12:43 p.m. A Mineral Street resident reported that she noticed a large amount of cigarette butts by her house.

2:09 p.m. Police gave a citation to Noreen Gunther, 52, of Winthrop charging him with driving with a suspended license in an uninsured car with a revoked registration.

2:59 p.m. An officer came upon a two-vehicle collision between a Melrose resident and a Reading resident near the intersection of West Street and Border Road. Neither driver suffered an injury.

3:30 p.m. A Bancroft Avenue resident reported that someone stole her comforter from a dryer at the on High Street. The resident said she spotted a black woman in her forties wearing a black puffy jacket and black ski pants with a white male who "looked like a drug addict" take the comforter, which she valued at $150, from the drier.

5:36 p.m. An anonymous caller reported seeing a possibly drunk man at the on Walkers Brook Drive. Police spoke to the man, who did not show signs of intoxication. They sent him away on foot.

8:20 p.m. An officer came across a blue Audi with its door open parked at the on Walkers Brook Drive. The officer was unable to raise the vehicle's owner, but nothing appeared disturbed in the vehicle.

10:35 p.m. Police gave a citation to a Wenda Street resident charging the resident with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Saturday, Dec. 18 

1:40 a.m. A Haven Street resident reported that he received threats from his ex wife. An officer determined that the perception of threats resulted from a miscommunication.

2:15 a.m. An officer reported that a door was missing from a storage bin at the rear of the on Salem Street.

7:00 a.m. An anonymous caller reported a possible water main break near the intersection of Bankcroft Avenue and Hartshorn Street. An officer checked the area, found water bubbling up, and informed the water department.

7:15 a.m. The Reading Police Department lowered its flag to half-mast to honor a fallen soldier.

8:21 a.m. Police gave a citation to Carlos Dias, 26, of Waltham charging him with driving without a license.

10:17 a.m. Police responded to West Street where a Woburn woman struck a deer. She did not suffer an injury, but an Oak Ridge Road man took the deer.

11:02 a.m. A Washington Street woman reported that someone struck her vehicle while it was parked at the intersection of Haven Street and Sanborn Street. Her vehicle suffered "heavy front-end damage."

11:45 a.m. A clerk reported that a customer threw an energy drink at him when the customer thought he was being overcharged for a cigar.

1:26 p.m. A Sanborn Lane resident reported that a white male, possibly in his 20s and carrying a briefcase, and a white woman, possibly in her 40s, approached the resident and asked if she spoke Portuguese. They told the resident they were attempting to sell lessons. The resident said she wasn't interested, then the man and woman left in a silver motor vehicle with New Hampshire plates.

1:48 p.m. A Haystack Road resident complained that a neighbor's dogs had been barking for more than an hour. An officer checked the home. The officer found one dog inside and out dog outside, both barking, but nobody home. The resident then returned and brought the outside dog in. Both dogs quieted.

2:29 p.m. A Sunset Rock Lane resident reported that a loose yellow lab bit a grey collie near the .  The caller said he wanted to know if the biting dog was up to date on its shots.

3:36 p.m. A Highland Street resident reported that someone stole two bicycles with a total value of about $500 from his shed.

6:55 p.m. An officer responded to the Quiznos on Main Street where a Bay State Road man was bothering patrons. The officer spoke to the resident about how he should speak to others.

7:03 p.m. State police told Reading police that a dark colored sedan, possibly with damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle, struck a vehicle on Rt. 128 North, then exited on to Main Street in Reading.

7:42 p.m. Followin a vehicle stop near the intersection of West Street and South Street, police arrested Lance Foley, 38, of Woburn for an outstanding warrant from Woburn District Court for driving with a suspended license. Police released Foley on $290 bail.

11:13 p.m. A Border Road caller reported an odor of gas outside the home. The fire department checked the area and detected nothing.

11:37 p.m. Police gave a citation Melissa Parziale, 20, of Reading charging her with driving an unisured vehicle with a revoked registration.
