Police Log: Lynn Man Arrested on Warrant

Lynn Man Arrested on Warrant

2:25 p.m.—Police arrested Joel N. Chilel, 27, of Lynn, on an outstanding warrant for operating without a license as the result of a traffic stop at Elliott and Washington Streets. He was also charged with a further count of driving without a license and giving a fake name to police.

4:53 a.m.—A motorist notified police that he struck a deer on Haverhill Street, near the North Reading town line. Officers checked the area but found no trace of the animal.

7:26 a.m.—Police investigated a two-car motor vehicle crash at Main and Franklin Streets with minor injuries.

8:49 a.m.—A Zachary Lane resident reported her mailbox was damaged overnight. The incident was logged for future reference.

9:29 a.m.—An Intervale Terrace resident reported receiving three or four scam phone calls since the previous night. The scam caller wanted a money order or Western Union wire transfer in exchange for an alleged prize. No information was given and police made a call to the offending telephone number.

10:01 a.m.—Police investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident at Linden and Woburn Streets. No injuries were reported.

11:55 a.m.—A resident reported an ongoing issue with a loose pit bull in the area of Middlesex Avenue and Deering Street. The dog is reportedly not vicious, but the caller was concerned because of children in the area.

1:32 p.m.—An Elderberry Lane resident reported a key to the home was taken by a recently discharged caretaker. Police spoke to the person in question and they agreed to return the key.

4:03 p.m.—Police investigated a two-car crash at Prescott Street and Hillcrest Road. No injuries were reported.

6:46 p.m.—Police investigated a minor two-car crash on Charles Street with no injuries.

10:25 p.m.—Police received a report of a suspicious person—possibly drunk—walking down Main Street near the Reading Fire Department. Officers spoke with the man and determined he was just walking home.

10:29 p.m.—A Westcroft Road resident reported a dark colored vehicle taking pictures of his house. Police responded, but were unable to find the vehicle.
