Police Log: Police Charge Wellesley Woman for Assault with a Vehicle
A look at notable events in the Reading Police log for Feb. 6-7.

Sunday, Feb. 6
1:36 a.m. Following a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Salem Street and Spring Street, police arrested Paul Bova, 51, of Reading and Elizabeth Breslow, 44, of Wakefield. Police charged Bova with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license and failure to obey the lanes on the road. Police cargred Breslow with possession of a class C substance with intent to distribute. Police reported that Breslow was uncooperative during booking and officers returned her to her cell until she calmed down. Police held Bova on $5,040 bail and held Breslow on $1,040 bail.
1:56 a.m. A Washington Street resident reported a suspicious man in her front yard. Police checked the area. An officer found no footprints in the snow and determined that the suspicious man was light reflecting off an icicle.

5:45 a.m. The Reading Municipal Light Department reported that it would shut down power to 335 through 355 Main Street from 6-9 a.m. that morning for maintenance purposes.
8:15 a.m. Police responded to New Crossing Road where the gates in front of the train tracks had become stuck in a dotnward position. MBTA maintenance returned the gates to normal operating condition shortly after 9 a.m.

8:33 a.m. An officer moved a downed tree limb he found in the roadway near the intersection of Summer Avenue and Howard Street.
8:58 a.m. The Reading Fire Department responded to an odor of natural gas near Exit 37 on Rt. 93 North. Firefighers detected no natural gas readings.
10:24 a.m. Police issued a bylaw violation to a Colonial Drive resident for throwing dog excrement into his neighbor’s yard.
11:23 a.m. A Dana Road resident reported that her neighbor’s daughter heard a sound in the basement. Police checked the home and found it secure.
12:00 p.m. An Avon Street resident reported that she thought she saw a bobcat.
12:14 p.m. A Beech Street resident reported finding a sick or injured duck in the resident’s driveway. The resident said she would search for someone to adopt the duck.
12:53 p.m. A Hopkins Street resident reported that someone at Sam’s Bistro was plowing snow onto the sidewalk. The owner reported that he had to finish cleaning up his plow work, and that it would be fine when he finished.
2:59 p.m. The Reading Fire Department resonded to Orange Street for a report of low-hanging wires.
5:20 p.m. An officer responded to a “very minor” accident on Salem street near the rotary and assisted the drivers with paperwork.
5:55 p.m. An Ash Street resident reported that someone struck his vehicle with a snowball. The snowball did not cause any damage to the vehicle.
8:39 p.m. Police received a report that the train gates near the intersection of Woburn Street and High Street had gotten stuck in their downward position. Nearly 40 minutes later, the gates went up.
9:38 p.m. A Main Street man reported that he had been threatened by his roommate after a dispute over the television remote. He reported that it was a verbal dispute only.
10:28 p.m. A manager on Chili’s at Walkers Brook Drive reported that a drunk customer that the bar had refused to serve got into a blue truck and drove away.
10:49 a.m. Police notified the Department of Public Works of a large pothole in the road near the intersection of Lowell Street and Parkman Road.
Monday, Feb. 7
12:58 a.m. Wellesley Police arrested Adela Porter, 46, of Wellesley and tranfered her to Reading’s custody before Reading police charged her with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction and intimidation of a witness. A victim on Pondview Lane reported that Porter pinned him to a garage wall with her Land Rover before fleeing the scene. Reading police noted two broken mirrors near the scene of the conflict. They also confiscated several cell phones from Porter's possession.
6:10 a.m. Police received a report that the train gates near the intersection of Woburn Street and High Street had become stuck in their downward position. The gates began working again at 6:30.
7:02 a.m. A Pearl Street resident told police that her 16-year-old son refused to go to school. An officer spoke to both parties, and the boy agreed to go.
7:13 a.m. Police responded to a two-vehicle collision between two Reading residents near the intersection of Main Street and Woburn Street.
10:24 a.m. A Larch Lane resident reported that his Jack Russell Terrier, “Eddie,” had escaped about an hour before. The dog found its way into another home through that home’s dog door. Police asked that homeowner to call Eddie’s owner.
12:45 p.m. An Archstone Circle resident reported that he had been .
1:08 p.m. A Carriage Lane resident reported that he had been in a minor motor vehicle accident that morning.
1:08 p.m. A Merrimack resident reported that she lost her wallet when she visited the REI on Salem Street.
3:00 p.m. An Avon Street resident reported that his vehicle had been struck while it was parked in front of his home. He did not see the offending driver.
3:24 p.m. A caller reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his laptop and GPS while his vehicle was parked at the Home Depot parking lot on Walkers Brook Drive.
3:25 p.m. A Bay State Road resident reported that a man had been continuously contacting her 18-year-old daughter. An officer took her information and the resident said she would file a harassment order.
3:26 p.m. Police notified the Massachusetts Department of Transportation of a pot hole near the Shell Station at 749 Main Street.
5:50 p.m. The Reading Fire Department took a woman who fell on the ice at Burbank Ice Arena to Winchester Hospital.
6:02 p.m. The fire department responded to an outside odor of gas near the intersection of Sylvan Road and Pineridge Road.
9:49 p.m. A Winslow Road driver who struck a dog on West Street asked for legal advice following the incident.
