Reading Cooperative Bank Teaches Daisy Troops Saving Techniques

Reading, MA – On October 1st Nancy Brown, Manager of Reading Cooperative Bank’s Wilmington Branch met with 12 first graders of Daisy Troop #66308 at the Heath Brook Elementary School in Tewksbury to teach the children important lessons regarding saving. Nancy highlighted the value of saving money through the use of worksheets, as well as bringing in and explaining the value of a variety of coins.

“It never ceases to amaze me how interested young children are in learning about the value of saving. It is important to teach these lessons at a young age, as the skills they learn will serve them well throughout their lives. I am grateful to be able to incorporate my love for teaching into my job as Branch Manager and look forward to volunteering in the future,” says Nancy Brown, Wilmington Branch Manager.

Teaching Children to Save (TCTS) is a national program that organizes bank volunteers, like Brown, to help young people develop savings habits early in life. The program was founded in 1997, and since that time over 145,000 volunteers have taught over 6 million students the importance of saving.
