Reading Lions Club 13th Annual Reading Friends and Family Day Takes Place This Saturday!
Saturday, June 11! Giveaways! Family Friendly Activities! Food! Live Entertainment! All events take place in the Birch Meadow Area.
Where can you listen to great music and the boom of fireworks, race remote control cars and play a round of miniature golf, see robots in action and visit a petting zoo? It’s all here at the 13th Annual Reading Lions Club Reading Friends and Family Day on Saturday, June 11th 2016. All events take place in the Birch Meadow Area. From the morning Kids Fun Run to the evening fireworks, you can look forward to a fun-filled day of activities, entertainment and information for all ages.
Since 2004, The Reading Lions Club has sponsored and organized Reading Friends and Family Day, also known as Town Day. This has now become a true community event as many groups have stepped up to both participate and become major sponsors.
This year’s activities begin with the FORR Kids Fun Run at 10:00. See the FORR website for registration information, www.forr01867.org. Then Reading Friends and Family Day booths and activities run from 11:00 A.M. through 3:00 P.M. The day will finish with a bang at the Friends of Reading Recreation sponsored annual Fireworks performance!
Check out the booth and activity area for remote control race cars, a rope bridge, petting zoo (11-2), jumpy castle, dunk tank, Laser Hero Blaster, a Frisbee throwing robot, tours of town vehicles, plus yoga, karate, and dance demonstrations. Other ongoing activities include: a dunk tank, kids building and gardening activities, games, arts and crafts. New this year, there will be a collection booth for gently used children’s books and stuffed animals.
In addition to all the fun activities for kids, this is a chance to find out what is going on in your town! Representatives from many organizations, businesses and town departments will be on hand to share information on town happenings, education, safety, conservation, summer reading, and lots of meet and greet opportunities with local officials. Residents of all ages will enjoy a full day of food, giveaways and demonstrations! When you need a break from all the excitement, grab a snack and head over to the Entertainment Stage. Performances include dance routines, karate demonstrations and multiple musical acts.
