Weather Update: Jams For Jake Concert Moved To Sunday

Heavy rain, flash flood warning, alter schedule for second annual event. Now Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.

Note: The second annual Jams For Jake concert has been postponed because of heavy rain Saturday and will now be held Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Symonds Field.

Holding a live outdoor event doesn't leave much room for guarantees but Ryan McKee and John Oliver of the Beat Heart Foundation made one to the Reading Select Board Tuesday. One thing absent from the first Jams For Jake Concert would definitely be present Saturday.

Heat. And lots of it.

The second annual Jams For Jake Concert will take place Saturday (ppd to Sunday) at Symonds Field next to Burbank Arena. Unlike last November's event which was held in what McKee called "frigid" temperatures, Saturday's concert will have heat, and lots of it. Gates open at noon and the event will run until 6 p.m.

The free community music festival at Symonds Field is a special event in memory of Reading's Jake Czuczwa, who died in 2017 at the age of 24. The goal is to raise resources and awareness in the fight against the opioid epidemic. There will be awesome music, silent art auctions, prize drawings, community speakers, an abundance of addiction resources, overdose and narcan training with take-home narcan kits, luminary bag decoration and ceremony, event t-shirts for sale, fun outdoor games, food trucks, and much more.

Jake Czuczwa "In Memory" CDs featuring 37 of his original songs will be for sale with all proceeds going back into Jams for Jake music grant.

Music fans can bring chairs, blankets, frisbees, hula hoops, food, and beverages.
