If you have not noticed there are still a number of sidewalks, both residential and commercial that have not been shoveled. If you have stopped downtown to run into CVS or any of the other businesses you need to navigate the snow piles or try and find a packed down path to the store. I am sure there must be an ordinance on the books to clear the sidewalks of snow within so many hours after a snowfall. Kids have to navigate giant snow piles because the sidewalks are not cleared of snow. People with carriages are not able to navigate walking their kids to school unless they have a 4 wheel drive carriage. I know the sidewalk plow tries and to make its way around town but it should not have too.
The residents of this town should take pride in their property and that means clearing the snow so people can continue to walk and navigate without having to make a trip to REI and get a pair of ice climbing shoes.
If there isn't an ordinance on the books lets add one. The city of Boston does it and has a fine for not clearing the snow after a snow storm. This seems like a legitimate way to increase your revenue if people do not want to shovel their sidewalks. There are kids out there willing to do this, landscapers will be more than happy to do it for you as well, and lastly you can invest in a snow thrower which makes it a bit easier for someone and is a bit more effective..
