Wondering About Main Street Paving? Me Too

State will put job out to bid soon, with work beginning in late fall or spring.

While bouncing along Main Street heading toward Stoneham I was reminded about plans to repave Reading's main drag. Is that still going to happen? And when? A question to Town Manager Bob LeLacheur provided an answer, or at the very least the best guess in town.

The state is putting the job out to bid in late summer or early fall with the hope work would begin in the fall or spring of 2019. Lelacheur has told the Select Board his expectation is that it will be in the spring.

The state is paying for the work so don't worry about another jump in your taxes. The work is from the Stoneham to North Reading town line, except for a section between the train tracks and Route 129.

Until it's done, just remember to stay in the left lane while heading south. It's a smoother ride.
