Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity Kick off Build Blitz in Greater Boston

Roslindale home build comes as part of Bank of America's broader $9 million commitment to revitalize communities across Massachusetts

Roslindale — This week, Bank of America employee volunteers teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston to build a home for two local Roslindale families. Over the course of two days, September 27 and 28, 20 volunteers worked on a two-unit townhouse on Bradeen Street. Across the state, bank employees volunteered at seven builds over three days.

This home comes as part of the third Habitat Global Build Week (#GlobalBuild), hosted in celebration of the bank’s 30 year commitment to Habitat for Humanity. Throughout the week, thousands of Bank of America employee volunteers and representatives from Habitat for Humanity are coming together to revitalize communities and help families achieve the dream of homeownership. Revitalization projects will take place in 85 communities across the eight countries, including the U.S.

“Through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity, not only are we supporting those in need, but we are given the opportunity to revitalize neighborhoods and empower individuals to gain economic mobility,” said Miceal Chamberlain, Massachusetts market president, Bank of America. “Helping these families achieve long-term financial stability makes the work we do a privilege.”

“Affordable housing is only a small portion of what these families end up gaining,” said Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston Executive Director, Lark Jurev Palermo. “Habitat brings individuals together, building hope for a better tomorrow. Our partnership with Bank of America allows us to connect more individuals in Boston, strengthening our community.”

The Global Build is just one way that Bank of America is helping advance a thriving Greater Boston community as part of its approach to responsible growth. This year, Bank of America has invested $9 million in Massachusetts nonprofits that support affordable housing, youth development, financial education and hunger relief.
