Boston Man Heading to Court After Hit-and-Run Last Month

Tipster helps cops track down Eddie Cartagena for allegedly hitting a pedestrian on May 21, 2015; the victim remains hospitalized.

Investigators in the Boston Police Department believe they’ve found the man responsible for a hit-and-run incident on Washington and Walworth streets that hospitalized a pedestrian, according to a report.

The incident occurred on May 21. Officers were called to the scene after a man in his early 20s was injured with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he remains at this time.

Police put out an alert the next day asking for assistance in IDing the car.

On June 2, 2015, after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen, detectives were able to locate Eddie Cartagena, 25, of Boston, and his car. The vehicle was towed and will be processed after a search warrant is acquired. Detectives also questioned Cartagena and have issued a summons for him to appear in West Roxbury District Court on several motor vehicle charges.

Online, the department stated that they wanted to “thank the member of our community who stepped up and provided the necessary information which led to the identification of this suspect.”
