Boston Pride Announces 4th Annual Pride Night @Fenway Park

Pride Flag Raising and Pre Game Event with Billy Bean Highlight This Year's Festivities

Boston Pride today announced the fourth annual Pride Night @Fenway Park on Friday, June 3, which will take place as part of 2016 Boston Pride Week (June 3 – June12.) This year’s Pride Night @Fenway will be an historic occasion as the Red Sox will be raising the Pride Flag for the first time ever inside Fenway Park during the Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays game at 7:10 p.m. Pride Night @Fenway will also feature a pre-game event with Billy Bean, the only openly gay Major League Baseball player (current or former) alive today. This year’s Boston Pride Week theme is “Solidarity Through Pride.”

“Pride Night at Fenway Park will be truly special this year as we witness the raising of the Pride flag for the first time ever inside Fenway,” said Linda DeMarco, Vice President of Boston Pride. “The Red Sox organization has been a great partner over the past four years and it exemplifies our theme, Solidarity Through Pride. The historic flag raising and the opportunity to meet Billy Bean, one of the few openly gay former or current major league sports players, will give Pride fans an unforgettable experience.”

Billy Bean played in major league baseball from 1997 to 1995 for the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. The MLB named Bean as Ambassador of Inclusion in 2014, and recently expanded his role as Vice President, Social Responsibility and Inclusion. The special Boston Pride Night @ Fenway Park event will include a ticket to the game, a VIP reception with Billy Bean and a signed autographed copy of his book, Going the Other Way: An Intimate Memoir of Life In and Out of Major League Baseball for $89 per person. Game only tickets are also available.
