Celebrate Patriots' Day Weekend at Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Faneuil Hall Marketplace is THE place to be on the upcoming Patriots' Day/Boston Marathon weekend

Faneuil Hall Marketplace is THE place to be to celebrate the Patriots’ Day/Boston Marathon weekend. For 300 years, Bostonians have gathered at the Marketplace to shop, mingle and celebrate, and this Patriots’ Day will be no different! Spring is in the air – the market will be buzzing, merchants will be offering a variety of exciting discounts, and outdoor cafes will be open (weather permitting.) In the Marketplace itself, local high school and college bands and orchestras will be serenading shoppers throughout Friday and Saturday, while the US Army 3rd Infantry Regiment Fife and Drum Corps will be performing on Sunday. And merchants will be celebrating the weekend with deals and events of their own – Ned Devine’s Irish Pub, for one, will be hosting live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Nearby, our friends at the Hard Rock Café will hosting a series of exciting live music events, including a concert by Keith Harking, formerly of Celtic Thunder. And venture outside to Marketplace Center to see the 23-foot fruit tree, a public art exhibition installed as part of the MFA’s “Megacities Asia” exhibit. Come celebrate spring, the Boston Marathon, and Patriots’ Day at Faneuil Hall Marketplace for fun events, exciting deals, and good times!

MFA Art Installation – Fruit Tree Sculpture at Marketplace Center

Marketplace Center has a tropical atmosphere as an enormous Fruit Tree sculpture is on display until July. The Fruit Tree sculpture is part of the Museum of Fine Arts Art Installation of Megacities Asia. Artists in the Asian megacities, which include Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi and Mumbai, have created art that represents the unparalleled wave of urbanization that has swept over the region the last 50 years. Themes depicted in the installation include economic mobility of migrants and city dwellers, construction of homes and communities, rural-to-urban migration, waste management, consumption and preservation of objects, neighborhoods and buildings. Visitors will have the opportunity to encounter these large sculptures and installations in the MFA’s Gund gallery as well as other spaces across the Museum’s campus and our very own Marketplace Center.
