Faneuil Hall Marketplace Announces its 20th Annual A Cappella Competition

(Boston, MA) – October 5, 2016 – Faneuil Hall Marketplace announced today that it will host the 20th annual Faneuil Hall Marketplace A Capella Competition on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Fifty of the best A Capella groups in New England will dual it out at the West End of the Marketplace as they entertain the crowds. The 50 A Capella groups represent colleges and independent singing groups from across New England. They will sing for a panel of judges and compete for the chance to win top honors and the opportunity to perform at the Wang and Shubert Theatres prior to live concerts of two national performing A Capella groups who are coming to Boston.

“We are planning on a ‘pitch perfect’ weekend for our 20th annual consecutive A Capella competition event where we showcase the talented groups who entertain throughout New England. Everyone’s invited to come to Faneuil Hall Marketplace to hear some of the best voices in the region,” said Carol Troxell, President of Faneuil Hall Merchants Association. “Last year The Dear Abbey’s took home first prize, so it will be exciting to see if they can defend their title for the second year in a row.”

Prizes will be awarded to the top two A Capella groups. One winner will be invited to sing prior to the performance of Straight No Chaser at the Wang Theatre on November 30, 2016. Another winner will be invited to sing prior to the performance of VOCALOSITY at the Shubert Theatre on January 24, 2017. Tickets to both performances will be given away during the two-day A Capella Competition.
