Faneuil Hall Marketplace Presents “Movie Musicals at the Marketplace”

Faneuil Hall Marketplace presents “Movie Musicals at the Marketplace” every Thursday evening during the month of August. Beginning August 10, the West End will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre where visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free movies with pre-show activities starting at 7:00pm and movies beginning at dusk. Pre-show activities include trivia contests, music, dancing and performances.

“Here at Faneuil Hall Marketplace we are always looking for new, fun and family-friendly ways to engage both local residents and visitors,” said Carol Troxell, President of Faneuil Hall Marketplace Merchants Association. “We are excited to present Movie Musicals at the Marketplace as a great night out for the whole family during the summer.”

The featured movies include Rocky Horror Picture Show on Thursday, August 10 in celebration of Boston Comic Con taking place Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13; Grease on Thursday, August 17; Mamma Mia on Thursday, August 24; and La La Land featuring a special pre-show performance by Swing 17 Jazz Band on Thursday, August 31.

Moviegoers have the opportunity to view these films comfortably with cabaret style seating with café tables and chairs, so no need to bring a blanket to sit on. Before the movie starts, walk the red carpet to music of the movie’s era and take your photo with cut-outs of the characters. Another perk is that guests may pre-purchase dinner (at least 24 hours in advance) from various restaurants and food merchants at the Marketplace and enjoy their food while watching the movie. You can also win tickets to Blue Man Group and the new Dreamland Wax Museum at City Hall Plaza.
