RCN Boston, an industry-leading provider of High-Speed Internet, Digital TV and Phone Service, announced today that it will be sending its popular ice cream truck to two North End Against Drugs (N.E.A.D.) events. The RCN ice cream truck will be handing out free ice cream treats at N.E.A.D Pride Day on July 31 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. near the Bocce Courts on Commercial Street, and at National Night Out on August 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Paul Revere Mall on Hanover Street.
“The N.E.A.D. events are a perfect fit for the RCN Ice Cream Truck,” said Jeff Carlson, RCN Boston Vice President and General Manager. “Everyone loves free ice cream and bringing the RCN Ice Cream Truck to the North End is our way of affirming our commitment to the neighborhood and its residents.”
“We are so happy to have RCN involved in this year’s events,” said Rosina Fabbo, Vice President of N.E.A.D. “It is so nice to see businesses like RCN get involved in the neighborhood and work with the communities they serve.”

On July 31, the N.E.A.D. Pride Day will feature family fun activities such as a kids’ talent show, Street Magic A Cappella, a bocce tournament, petting zoo, face painting, art contest and a free BBQ.
On August 2, the National Night Out encourages residents nationwide to get out into the community and get to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. By hosting a block party in the North End, members of the community have the ability to promote neighborhood cohesiveness and public safety by sharing concerns and information. This year’s event will feature activities such as a reptile show, DJ, free BBQ, K9 dog show and much more. There will also be special appearances by MBTA Transit Police, Boston Fire Department and the Coast Guard.
