Short Film Made By 'Cuervo Man' to Feature Roslindale

A party entertainer turned filmmaker will use his childhood neighborhood of Roslindale as the setting of a short film.

ROSLINDALE, MA - A short film created by a Roslindale-raised ex party guy will use the neighborhood as the setting of an emotional story.

The film, titled “Last Night in Rozzie,” will be created by Ryan McDonough, also known as “Cuervo Man.” The film will star his friend, actor Mark Feuerstein of the hit show “Royal Pains,” according to the film’s Indiegogo page.

McDonough worked as a “party catalyst” for the tequila company Jose Cuervo until later getting sober, he wrote on Indiegogo. Actor John Hodgman did a feature on McDonough‘s wild job on “This American Life” back in 2002.

“Last Night in Rozzie” will be a fictitious account of a New York lawyer who returns to his home town of Roslindale for the first time in 25 years to fulfill a friend’s dying wish. The lawyer must decide whether to rush back to New York to meet a deadline or stay in Roslindale and face haunting memories from the past.

McDonough’s father was not around when he was a child and he wrote that he has dealt with resentment because of it, especially since the birth of his own son. McDonough plans to incorporate these experiences into his film.

“When that resentment started to creep into my relationship with my son, I knew I needed to let go of the past, forgive my father and foster a relationship with him from now on if I wanted to be the father my son deserves,” McDonough wrote on his Indiegogo page.

“And thematically, that’s what “Last Night in Rozzie” is all about: showing up for the relationships that matter the most to us, no matter how much resentment or shame we may be holding onto, before it’s too late,” he wrote.

McDonough plans to start filming in Los Angeles this month and will make his way to Roslindale in the spring. He hopes to have the film completed by the end of 2016.
