100 Kentucky Tornado-Displaced Cats Headed To Salem
The cats are being flown up from storm-ravaged Kentucky to the Northeast Animal Shelter for hopeful holiday adoption.
SALEM, MA — About 100 cats are expected to arrive in Salem on Wednesday morning as the Northeast Animal Shelter hopes to find holiday forever homes for the felines displaced from tornado-ravaged Kentucky earlier this week.
A Northeast Animal Hospital spokesperson told Patch the cats are being flown up from Kentucky and will then be taken via three large vans to the animal shelter on Highland Avenue in Salem.
The Northeast Animal Shelter will then provide information about their health and how residents can apply to adopt them.

The relocation is part of the ongoing partnership with the MSPCA and Angell Memorial to move animals from overflow shelters in areas hard hit by weather and other factors to New England where demand for adopted pets remains strong nearly two years into the coronavirus crisis.
