SALEM, MA — As one popular Peabody donut shop closes, a sister Salem location on Essex Street remains open, according to a string of social media posts seeking to clear up any confusion over the state of Ziggy's and Sons Donuts.
The Bourbon Street location in Peabody was set to close due to the retirement of owner John Akatyszewski's sister, Patricia, who was managing the Peabody shop.
"I am officially retired," Patricia posted in announcing the closure. "I wanted to say thank you for this wonderful ride. You made my business feel like a second home, such a great experience.
"Thanks for all your friendships, support and unforgettable memories. You really did make it a happy place to be."
The post, apparently, caused confusion among North Shore morning pastry fans who thought both locations had shuttered.
"ZIGGYS IN SALEM IS OPEN!" Ziggy's and Sons co-owner Pattie Akatyszewski posted on Facebook on Tuesday. "John will continue to make his famous hand-cut donuts as usual in Salem."
The Salem location is at 2 Essex Street.
It is open Sunday through Friday and can be found by calling 978-744-9605, as well as through GrubHub.
The Salem shop accepts cash, as ell as credit, debit and tap-to-pay payment methods.
