Sail Salem is again providing summer sailing camps for youths ages 8 to 18; and Learn-to-Sail Programs for adults. Each Youth Program runs one week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and is based on Winter Island with its access to Salem Harbor. The programs include on-shore sailing instruction, on-the-water sailing under the guidance of certified sailing instructors, and an on-land STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics) curriculum. These one-week sailing camps begin the week of June 22 and extend through August 21. Tuition is $320 per one-week session with a maximum registration of two weeks per student. Financial assistance may be available based upon confirmation of financial need.
The Adult Learn-to-Sail program is designed for people who want to learn the joys of sailing in Salem Harbor but who have little to no sailing experience. Classes are limited to 6 students per session, and will meet in the late afternoon, once a week, for 5 weeks during the summer. Tuition is $375.
Program registration opens to nearby communities beginning March 1. These classes are often fully subscribed, so early registration is recommended. Details and online registration may be found on the Sail Salem Web site, sailsalem.org.
