Caller Reports Repeated Toilet Paper/Baby Powder Mess

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Salem Police responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Sept. 21

4:34 p.m. — A break-in was reported at the parking garage on Congress Street.

5:23 p.m. — Police said a woman reported her wallet was stolen after she left her purse at a Highland Avenue bus stop.

6:45 p.m. — Police responded to a report a group was fighting on Lafayette Street. police said the people were seen leaving the area on camera.

7:47 p.m. — An accident involving a car and motorcycle was reported at Loring Avenue and Sumner Road.

10:23 p.m. — Police said loud yelling was reported on Geneva Street. When they arrived, police said they found a large party with 80 people and a beer pong table set up. Police said this was not the first time they had been to the apartment for this issue, and everyone who didn't live there was told to leave.

10:50 p.m. — An Ocean Avenue West caller reported someone covered his vehicle in toilet paper and baby powder. Police said the same thing happens every few months.

Saturday, Sept. 22

1:16 a.m. — A loud group possibly fighting was reported on Ropes Street. Police said there wasn't any issue when they arrived.

1:18 a.m. — Police said a loud group was reported on Rainbow Terrace.

2:19 a.m. — A Federal Street caller reported her friends would not leave her residence.

2:28 a.m. — A past assault was reported on Prince Street.

3:10 a.m. — A taxi fare dispute was reported on Essex Street. Police said a woman was highly intoxicated and she was taken into protective custody.

9:37 a.m. — Police responded to Turner Street on a report of a dispute between neighbors. Police said a woman's cat got out and was on the roof of her neighbor's front door. The woman said she just wanted police present when she went to retrieve her cat, since the neighbors have ongoing issues. Police said the neighbors complied, a ladder used, and the cat removed from the roof.

9:48 a.m. — A caller reported a customer's car was stolen from a Bridge Street business overnight.

10:57 a.m.  — Police said a vehicle was keyed on Oak Street and salad dumped near the driver's side of the windshield.

Saturday Arrests

Tiffany R. Collins, 20, of 33 Walnut St. in Reading was arrested on charges of  operating under the influence of liquor, a one-way street violation, giving a false name to an officer, operating a vehicle after a license suspension and possession/use of another person's license.

Gilvan G. Lima-Lopes, 32, of 98 Broadway was arrested on charges of operating without being licensed and a red light or stop sign violation.

Melanie C. Wilson, 54, of 7 Palmer St. was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace.

Benjamin Zwart, 19, of 29 Harry Homans Dr. in Essex was arrested on charges of transporting liquor as a minor and violating the city's public drinking ordinance.
