City Set For First Annual Salem Food for Thought Festival
Activities will include cooking demonstrations, planting activities, compostable art projects, garden tours, and more.

City of Salem: Salem Food for All is excited to announce the first annual Salem Food for Thought Festival! This free event will include a number of food-related activities for all ages to raise awareness of how important it is for all Salem residents to have access to healthy, affordable foods as well as a sustainable food system.
Activities will include cooking demonstrations, planting activities, compostable art projects, Salem Y GreenSpace garden tours, nutrition education, and a Farm to School activity hosted by Salem Public Schools. Music will be provided by local musician Aaron Katz.
Local non-profits Root and Citizens Inn/Haven from Hunger will host a free community lunch at the North Shore Community Development Coalition’s community room, Espacio, at 105 Congress Street from 1pm-2pm as the finale for the event. All are welcome to attend.

The Salem Food for Thought festival is sponsored by Salem Food for All, Root, Salem State University, Citizens Inn/Haven from Hunger, Crosby’s Market and the Jewish Family & Children’s Service. Event participants include: Project Bread, UMass Extension School, Salem Public Schools, Studioful Design, Salem YMCA, the Salem Community Gardens, Farm Direct Coop, Maitland Mountain Farm, the Community Life Center and LEAP for Education.
