Those interested in adopting a new little bunny or guinea pig can register in advance for visitation time in Salem, Cape Cod, Nevins Farm in Methuen or the Boston adoption center here.

The so-called "pocket pets" are often ideal for people who want some companionship but don't have the room or living situation to best suit a dog or cat. While some aspects of owning the little guys may be easier, daily cage cleaning, exercise and socialization are necessary for a happy and healthy pet.

Those intending to adopt are asked to bring a photo of the cage where the pet will be primarily kept and to prepare for a same-day adoption where the rabbit or guinea pig are brought home at the time of the visit.

Masks and social distancing are still required to visit the MSPCA, whether or not you are vaccinated.
