Fire Can't Stop Salem Bar From Opening

All Salem Fire crews responded to the fire at Mercy Tavern Wednesday afternoon, but the bar was expected to be open Thursday night.

SALEM, MA -- The bar at the Mercy Tavern was expected to reopen Thursday evening, just hours after an electrical fire ripped through the walls of the restaurant's kitchen. And while the kitchen was damaged when firefighters had to tear open walls to put out the fire, owners were hoping the tavern would be back to serving food by this weekend.
