Former Salem Woman Admits To Neglecting Disabled Son

Adriana Rodriguez, 40, also pleaded guilty to submitting falsified time slips for her boyfriend, who she hired as a personal care assistant.

SALEM, MA — A former Salem woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to permitting injury to a disabled person, attempted larceny and submitting a false claim to a government agency. Adriana Rodriguez, 40, had been accused of neglecting her teenage son, who is disabled and lost more than half his body weight in less than a year when he was not fed. Rodriguez had also submitted falsified time slips to the state to the state for reimbursement for her boyfriend, who she had hired as a personal care assistant for her son.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Rodriguez was sentenced to 26 months in a house of correction. She was already serving a sentence for violating her probation two years ago when she called in a false bomb threat to the court complex in Salem where she was scheduled to appear for a hearing.
