Gun, Drugs Found In Salem State Dorm Room

Attorneys for Gabe Bergeron, ​22, of Edgartown, say he is licensed to carry the weapon.

SALEM, MA -- A Salem State University student who described himself as a "fifth-year senior" is facing gun and drug charges. Gabe Bergeron, 22, of Edgartown, surrendered at Salem District Court after learning university police had a warrant for his arrest. Bergeron was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds and possession of prescription drugs.

Bergeron is licensed to the carry the .45 caliber handgun. According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, police also seized 100 rounds of ammunition, 12 ounces of marijuana and 9 1/2 Focalin pills.
