Salem Police Investigating Rash of Vehicle Break-ins

Salem police are investigating more than a dozen vehicle break-ins that occurred over the weekend.

More than a dozen city residents called the Salem Police Department Sunday to report that that their vehicles had been burglarized overnight. The break-ins occurred on Circle Hill Road, Sable Road and Gallows Hill Road. 

Many of the vehicles burglarized Saturday night were reportedly left unlocked, according to this morning's police log. Consider this a reminder to lock your cars overnight, even if they're parked in your driveway.

  • At 10:09 a.m., a Circle Hill Road man called police to report that someone went through his truck overnight but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
  • At 10:35 a.m., a Circle Hill Road woman called police to report that someone went through her car overnight but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
  • At 10:51 a.m., a Circle Hill Road man called police to report that someone broke into his car overnight at stole his GPS device.
  • At 11:05 a.m., a Circle Hill Road woman called police that someone broke into her car overnight and stole a GPS device and cash.
  • At 11:12 a.m., a Circle Hill Road man called police to report that someone went through his car overnight but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
  • At 11:13 a.m., a Gallows Hill Road resident called police to report that someone went through his car overnight and stole $20 cash.
  • At 2:15 p.m., a Circle Hill Road resident called police to report that their car was entered overnight and an iPod valued at $200 was missing.
  • At 3:05 p.m., a Gallows Hill Road resident called police to report that someone went through his wife's car overnight and $300 cash was stolen from a wallet inside. 
  • At 3:25 p.m., a Gallows Hill Road resident called police to report that someone went through his truck overnight and nothing appeared to be missing.
  • At 3:42 p.m., a Sable Road resident called police to report that someone went through his wife's car overnight and stole a pair sunglasses.
  • At 3:56 p.m., a Sable Road man called police to report that someone went through his car overnight but nothing appeared to be missing.
  • At 4:02 p.m., a Sable Road man called police to report that someone went through his car overnight but nothing appeared to be missing.
  • At 4:06 p.m., a Sable Road woman called police to report that someone broke into her car overnight at stole change from her purse.
  • At 4:22 p.m., a Gallows Hill Road woman called police to report that someone broke into her car overnight but nothing appeared to be missing.
  • At 4:42 p.m., a woman called police to report that she saw someone looking into cars on Sable Road overnight.
