SALEM, MA — Marinas from Marblehead and Salem were among the nine North Shore and Cape Ann marinas chosen among the 2020 Boaters' Choice Award winners in the 2020 Marinas.com ratings released on Wednesday.

The Safe Harbor Hawthorne Cove was selected as an Elite Fleet Winner, while Pickering Wharf Marina of Salem and Marblehead Harbormaster were picked as Boaters' Choice Award winners.

Marinas.com said every marina is eligible for the awards, which are chosen based on reviews and average-star ratings on the website. Marinas with at least five reviews in 2020 and a rating of at least four stars were designated Boaters' Choice winners. There were 366 winners across the nation and nearby islands.

Elite Fleet winners were marinas that received 10 reviews with an average of 4.8 stars. There were 90 marinas that qualified for Elite Fleet status this year — up 73 from last year.

"The growth of marinas qualifying for Elite Fleet status represents a continuing positive trend in the marina industry, as more marinas recognize the power of customer reviews to attract new boaters and to motivate staff to provide the best possible customer service," Marinas.com said.

The 2020 recipients include a diverse range of marina businesses, from private yacht clubs to public service yards, and locations from the Puget Sound to the British Virgin Islands.
