Montserrat School Of Art President Named COO Of Peabody-Essex Museum
Kurt Steinberg will take over as the oldest continuously operating museum's chief operating officer in January 2023.

SALEM, MA — The president of Montserrat College of Art for the past four years will take on a new challenge as the chief operating officer of the Peabody Essex Museum in January.
The PEM said Kurt Steinberg, who also served 12 years as executive vice president and one year as acting president at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, will oversee the PEM's collection services, facilities, financial, marketing and communications, and security operations, as well as serving as a strategic advisor.
"I am very excited to serve the Peabody Essex Museum community as the next COO," he said, "Partnering with Executive Director and CEO Lynda Roscoe Hartigan and the outstanding staff at the PEM in fulfilling the mission of this great and long-lived institution is an amazing opportunity."

The PEM said Steinberg is a noted guest lecturer and has served on chaired accreditation teams for the New England Commission of Higher Education, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the National Association of Schools of Dance.
Steinberg earned his Bachelor of Arts in international relations at Syracuse University, a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse, and his Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.
