National Merit Scholarship Honors 3 Salem High Students
Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition through the PSATs.
SALEM, MA — Three Salem High students were among the 34,000 students nationwide — out of more than 1.5 million eligible — recognized as Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Corporation program in 2020.
Salem Principal Dr. Samantha Meier announced Duncan Mayer, Dwight Mayer and Christin Napierkowski as recipients of the honors, which were to be presented at Monday's Salem School Committee meeting.
Students received their commendation based on their performances in the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test.

"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated potential for academic success," Meier said in announcing the achievements. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
"We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
