SALEM, MA — Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll told the Salem News the school committee she chairs took no action after meeting in executive session for three hours Monday. The purpose of the meeting, according to the newspaper, was to "discuss the 'reputation, character and complaints brought against' school district Superintendent Margarita Ruiz, as well as any potential disciplinary action. All seven members attended the meeting, as did Paul Dakin, a retired Revere superintendent leading a performance review of Ruiz.

The school committee is expected to discuss the investigation into Salem High School Principal Jennifer DeStefano's resignation and the hiring of Vittoria Pacifico to an 18-month contract to serve as interim principal at its next meeting. Ruiz has said she welcomes the investigation.
