Cyclist seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in Salem (boston25news.com) — A 59-year-old cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle at North and Lynde Streets in Salem on Thursday evening and was transferred from Salem Hospital to a Boston facility. The 79-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating, while police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Salem man arraigned in slaying of girlfriend, ordered held without bail (boston.com) — A Salem man has been ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty to murdering his girlfriend, who was found dead in her Cabot Street home earlier this month. Police say he was arrested the next day in New Hampshire and later extradited, with a probable cause hearing set for Oct. 16 in Salem District Court.
